Effective Copilot - Course Outline

This is a half day (3 hours) course.
Knowledge Pre-requisites
This course assumes that people have have some basic familiarity with using AI assistants, such as ChatGPT or indeed Copilot
Learning Outcomes
- Explore the capabilities of Copilot to understand its potential use within SEGRO.
- Write prompts that encourage Copilot to give the most appropriate, relevant and accurate responses.
- Explore the advanced capabilities of Copilot such as notebooks and the Analyst and Researcher agents
Content
The course explores the capabilities of Copilot to understand its potential use within SEGRO. It starts with a tour of the Copilot user interface and a quick look at the features (prompt gallery, dictation, load/attach files). It covers some of the advanced capabilities of Copilot, especially Notebooks, and the Researcher and Analyst capabilities.
The final exercise stretches Copilot’s advanced capabilities to deliver more for us. It is a group exercise. Attendees form four teams and each team has different specific tasks.
- Researchers use Copilot’s Researcher capability to attempt larger and more challenging tasks.
- Imagers use Copilot’s Visual Creator capability to generate new images based on a text description. They also use to interpret images: for example, to describe an image, to read text in the image even if on signage, to understand and interpret particular types of images such as maps, business charts.
- Notebookers use Copilot’s Notebook to answer questions based solely on the contents of a set of documents (and not to use its general knowledge and also not search the web). These documents could be a PDF or Word document, or a web page or a Copilot page…
- Analysts use Copilot’s Analyst capability to analyse and gain insight from a dataset.
Excluded Content
The courses cover Copilot using web sources but not work sources (e.g., email, Word and PowerPoint files on OneDrive), since this functionality may not be made available to all SEGRO staff, and was not available during course preparation. It does not cover Copilot integrated into web applications, since this is covered by other training content.
